Despite threats of rain, 171 golfers enjoyed perfect weather at the HELPS International's 9th Annual Golf Tournament at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker, Minnesota.
Though a lighthearted scramble competition, there was no lack of talent on the course that day. With a score of 18 under, first place went to Katie Randolph, Dustin Miller, Josh Breen and Dave Price of TransitTec, a transportation company in St. Joseph.
Pebble Creek, a beautiful 27-hole course outside of St. Cloud, has hosted the tournament since the year 2000, providing superb accommodations for the yearly benefit. Club restaurant T's provided dinner for over 200 golfers and guests who stayed for the program, featuring HELPS Founder and President Stephen Miller.
The tournament enjoyed generous corporate sponsorship from St Cloud Hospital, Anderson Trucking, Midsota Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons, The Kopp Family Foundation, Anesthesia Associates along with other anonymous donors.
All proceeds from the tournament go to fund HELPS International's multidisciplinary medical teams. "The medication and supply costs for the Minnesota teams alone totals over $35,000", said Golf Committee chairwoman Geri Randall. "Our continued work in Guatemala would not be possible without the tremendous generosity of local individuals and businesses here in Central Minnesota."
The Minnesota teams are already looking forward to their 10th Annual Tournament, which will take place at Pebble Creek on July 26th, 2010.
